Wisconsin: Scott Walker signs bill repealing handgun waiting period

THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2015

Governor Scott Walker on Wednesday signed into law a bill repealing Wisconsin's 48-hour waiting period for handgun purchases, a measure supporters said will make buying a gun more convenient and opponents said will lead to increased violence.

He also signed a law allowing retired, off-duty, and out-of-state police officers to carry firearms on school property.

"Backers of allowing off-duty and retired police officers to carry concealed weapons at schools said it would create another line of defense for students and teachers if a shooter attacks. Opponents said allowing non-uniformed officers to carry guns at schools could scare students.Backers of allowing off-duty and retired police officers to carry concealed weapons at schools said it would create another line of defense for students and teachers if a shooter attacks. Now we need an Executive Order from Governor Rauner telling the ISP to pull their Smokey the Bear hats out of their asses vis-a-vis non-resident Illinois concealed carry permits.

Well, we are still at 72 hours waiting period for handguns. But it keeps me from making impulse purchases................RIGHT!

Wisconsin Governors don't "cover up"... anything*. Has construction begun on Governor Rauner's post-gubernatorial jail cell yet?

*testimonial coverage does not extend to U.S. Presidents who were formerly Wisconsin Governors.

IL cashed his check for the license, but still probably waiting another four to six weeks to get it. Not to mention it was more than triple the cost of WI. Good to go in both states.

    Good News:

    A job offer right away.

    More distance from Chicago.

    Bad News:

    Further from home.

Longer drive for GGP SASS Matches. Oconomowoc, Ripon, and Bristol shouldn't be too far, depending on where he will be residing.

His WI concealed carry permit won't be recognized in FIB-land.

He's not gonna be in your PPO/HMO?

Other good news, he can throw away all Chicago Bear stuff. Go with the Green and Gold.
  • When Federal Law was changed allowing carry in schools, Wisconsin didn't have a permit system. We werenn't grandfathered in when we got concealed carry. We put in to have that changed, but they only allowed ex LEOs and off duty Officers. Current Permit holders are still not allowed except in parking lots.
