How to Get to the Dry Gulch Ranch Cowboy Range

Hope to see you there!!

Did the Bristol Shoot happen today?

Unable to attend...
Had to help someone moving some furniture and I just got back home. My good dead for the year is done and I'm sure I'll be punished for it.

So did anyone shoot Bristol and did you enjoy the moving blockade on the one stage?

It was a good match and the weather held too; overcast and threatening rain but none fell while we were shooting.
The "bobber" was okay but it forced most people to shoot in @ the same time as everyone else. Multiple shots on the targets would change that; I think that's what they will do at a later match.
Very little splash-back, so target placement was pretty good.

  • We were out there from 9-230 setting up yesterday. I hope all enjoyed the course or my sunburned body got toasted for naught. I would have loved to shoot but trying to keep the peace at home seemed paramount. After the initial door slamming, the bride said "Go ahead and go shooting. I have plans. I don't want you to stay home." With 33 years of wedded bliss under my belt, I have learned to interpret this as she really means it. "You can go shooting but since you are going to be out all 3 of your days off, i'm going to make your life a living hell." I felt that getting the stages set up was more important than shooting. I didn't want Jailbird and Huckleberry to get stuck doin' all the work on Friday and then havin' to come up early on Saturday to finish the setup before being able to shoot. I can shoot anytime. The Pards come first.
The splashback issue is something that is formost in everyone's mind. We are steadfastly holding to the SASS minimum distances and these seem to keep splatter to a minimum. Target angles between stages was addressed during set up and we were constantly adjusting to get our dangle angles right. The Bob and Weave stage was designed to make this game more fun. It seemed that we were getting into the same old same old stage ruts that infect most shooting games. The intent was to make it fun and unusual. If anybody has any ideas as to stage design for something other than the same boring 10 pistol, 10 rifle, 4 shotgun shoot 'em fast with robotic movement and no originality stages, let Jailbird, Huckleberry, Tex Hewitt or even me(though I am not running the show, I can always pass it along).

I thought the shoot went very well. Didn't notice much splatter. Seems that all the efforts to improve on that have been paying off from what I saw.
Also, the "Bob and Weave" stage was kind of fun. Not being one of the faster shooters it didn't affect me much having to shoot the targets alternating.
Nice job setting up guys.
