Pony Express Match

<div class="IPBDescription">Mail order Cowboy Match</div>Howdy Y'all,<br />
<br />
I ran across this idea on the SASS Wire and thought it sounded sort of unique. It's a match that uses the same stage set-ups at ranges across the country to standardize target placement. <br />
<br />
By doing this you can compete with shooters from all over and see how you stack up! <br />
<br />
If enough interest is shown we will set up the stages at the Good Guys matches throughout the summer. With 6 scheduled matches, we would have one stage at each match of 4 matches and two stages at the remaining 2 matches. I contacted teh organizer about the fact that we don't shoot in the first quarter and he said it was no problem. We can shoot the stages at any time as long as they are complete by the deadline.<br />
<br />
Let me know what you think and we'll get it going.<br />

  • That really sounds like a lot of fun. I would be interested to hear and see more. Never mind just went to the attachement this looks like a lot of fun. I'm in for a try.

    As long as I'm not involved with the co-ordination of this it could very well work and be some extra fun.

    Very similar to another shooting sport I partake in; as long as everything is set up according to specs it should be fun. Heck, we have the range and it will help with a couple of stage designs throughout the season. Folks that don't want to partake in the Pony Ejxpress Match would just shoot the stages as a normal stage for the match; those that partake in the shoot would have to make sure that we have our times and scores entered and sent in to the headquarters. Sounds like more fun to be added. Count me in. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup:' />

    Sounds great to me! Would gladly participate. I am sure the Lt. would also want to be involved. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup:' />

    As far as score cards go, when you register, CD Tom sends you your cards for the quarters that you sign up for. Then when you shoot them you fill them out get them signed by the Match Director or an RO and mail them in yourself.<br />

    Okay, are we going to do this and if so are we going to send in for information all at once so we can all shoot the same quarters or what? I think that we still have to get the official okay from the powers that be to have those stages included in a match don't we?

    Sounds like a lot of folks are interested, so I would say it's a go. I'm not worried about the powers that be. Like they say it's easier to beg for forgiveness than to get permission.<br />

    I downloaded and printed everything out. Even if we don't shoot all four quarters, we could make sure that all of the stages are set up during our shooting season and send in the scores at the appropriate time. I think that it would be a lot of fun. I'm willing to go and help set up when I'm in town; I think that we would have enough people to help out with this; it'll be kinda cool to see how we do against someone in California or Maine on the same, identical course of fire. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/devil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':devil:' />

    Well Ugly, nice job printing out the stages! I did the same thing and then found out that they are last years stages. He'll have the new ones after the first of the year. So much for planning, eh?<br />

    Ya know, those are some pretty good stages anyways; maybe we can incorporate some of them at the Kanyon or at Sycamore anyways.
  • Been getting e-mails from CD Tom all year about these matches and I'm glad to see we are going to be shooting the stages. CD sent me an e-mail today and it said the stages for Quarter 1 will be loaded in the next couple of days. He also sent along the registration form which includes rules and such. If anyone wants the download just shoot me an email and I can forward it.<br />
