wild bunch gun rules

As I understand the rules, wildbunch lever rifles must be 40 cal. or larger. I would like to see our territorial governor (and those of surrounding clubs) lobby to allow any lever rifles allowed in regular cowboy matches. Frankly I don't understand the 40 cal. rule, unless the powers that be hold stock in Ubert, Marlin, etc. It certainly doesn't help the sport to require shooters to spend an extra $900--$1500 dollars just to shoot side matches. I know our club allows any legal lever gun, and think all SASS clubs should do the same. Secondly, I think all 1911's in traditional class should be allowed to have a modest beavertail! This sport is supposed to be FUN. HAMMER BITE IS NOT FUN !. This is just my point of view from my saddle, but I hope the majority of my pards out there agree. I believe these changes would increase wild bunch participation. I M Portly
