How to Get to the Dry Gulch Ranch Cowboy Range

Hope to see you there!!

2013 and this years shoot...

Just sent off a letter to Grand Victoria Casino to see if they will again be supporting our charity shoot. Believe that Raj at Eagle Grips is on board again this year<br />
<br />
Both of these have given to us each year along with some of our individual shooters and we appreciate all of the donations.<br />
<br />
<br />
Along those lines we only had thirty shooters last year. Hoping we get a few more shooters out this year, so circle the date on your calendar. Even with only the thirty we sent in $1,000.00 to the scholarship fund. Hoping to send in a few more dollars this year.<br />
<br />
As most of you know Pumpkin, Lizzie and Sicilian Kid have all received help from SASS. Last couple of years have found none of the three applying for help, but what they have received previously still more than exceeds what we have sent back to them.<br />
<br />
So come on out and help to fund the good cause.<br />
<br />
<br />
Again this year, probably no side matches with all the goodies being raffled prior to the start of the shoot and then the regular six stages.<br />
<br />
I'll update info here as we figure out what we're doing...

Thought I'd throw a bump into this thread to remind everyone to mark the 30th of this month on their calendars.<br />
<br />
Have received some coupons from Grand Victoria Casino and will be going down to see Raj at Eagle Grips in the next week or two. We probably won't have lots and lots of goodies, but will look to having a fun shoot and raising a few bucks for the scholarship fund. My excuse is I'm spending six days a week at the shop with little time for anything else. <br />

Yeah Jim, that's a honey. Watch it though; I won a .45XD at the charity shoot and I had to go out and buy a .9XD 'cause it fit my hand so well I wanted to be able to have big bullets and small bullets for some of the competitions.

The solution is having a few guns in "combination" calibers. Have the CZ clones that you just change the top end (barrel & return spring) and can go between 9mm and 41AE. Neat set up.<br />

Believe that we got about nine inches of rain out at "Dry Gulch" before yesterday's shoot and you probably noticed that there was a considerable amount of run off going down the lane by the stages. We still managed to get the shoot in and believe that we'll do the same next Sunday. <br />
<br />
This is the Fourth Annual Scholarship Shoot and hope we get enough shooters out to match the thousand we were able to send off last year. Shamrock will be setting the stages for us so you don't have worry about bringing a genius to figure out what convoluted mess I would have put together.
<br />
<br />
No gold nugget this year as Snidely said he wanted a second one to wear as earrings and I couldn't stomach that idea. Bleach injections into my ears to clear it out of my brain.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Since I can't win a matching nugget at the scholarship match this spring, I'm thinking of ordering a special costume for the Halloween shoot to show off the one I do have:<br />

I challenge Jeweler Jim, Dangerous Denny, and Johnny Popper (his health permitting), to separate duels after the Scholarship Shoot. One pistol shot apiece, at separate paper targets at 25 paces, with the worst shot in each case to donate $10 to the Scholarship Fund.<br />

Hmmm... I suppose you will try to sneak in with your 40" barrel target pistol with the laser sights and GPS stabilization.
• Snidely WhiplashSnidely Whiplash A legend in his own mind.
I propose we use the same SASS-legal pistols we shoot the match with. I plan on using factory-loaded ammunition. Hopefully, my opponents won't be sending enough grits or cornmeal downrange with their shots to feed the masses.
• dddd Gnome, gnome on the range&#33;
In that case, accepting defeat, I will yield the challenge, forfeit the joust and calmly place my $10 in the kitty.
• I ACCEPT!!! <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/gunslinger.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':gunslinger:' /><br />
Since you are the challenger, <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bebe3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':bebe3:' /> I propose if you lose, you put in $20!!! <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shoot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shoot:' /><br />

I'm looking forward to coming out to the shoot. I am calling the I.S.P. tomorrow to inquire about my card, so as of now I do not have any guns. I do have a holster rig and a half box of .45lc, though... If anyone was able to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, I will help score or whatever is needed. See you there! <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I plan to be there with extra equipment so you should be covered.<br />

If you don't mind swapping back and forth I'll bring the extra ammo and you can use my set up. Will have the extra holsters, but you will need a shotgun and regular belt for the holsters. If you can fit into a 32 - 34" belt you can use the full rig that is my son's. All ours are set up for the smaller 38 special lightnings so the holsters will not fit the regular framed guns.
• Nice! Thank you . <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> B.T.W. If I could still fit into a 32-34 inch belt, my weekends would be spent at the beach.

You will then need a belt for the holsters and a shotgun belt if possible.
• I know we were very light on shooters but it was an excellent match and the weather could not have been nicer! Thanks for all the hard work (and the sweet rolls!) Courtesy of them my gas mileage was seriously reduced on the road home with all the extra weight Moose packed on!
• Great Day, Great Shoot!! Had a great time!<br />
Thanks to all who helped me get through the match. I hope next time i won't need the cane!<br />

Couldn't ask for better weather. Yes the turn out could have been better, but then we had a prize or premium for every shooter who showed up. Everybody got something including those who sent or gave without attending. That means that Wrangler Rich, I.M. Portly and Huck can collect their goodies when they make it out to the next shoot.<br />
<br />
Also I noticed that there was a cane with strainer attached left out at the range from the last shoot (for brassing). Whoever is missing it please remember to pick it up at the next shoot or it gets added to the "hat and pouch" that have never been claimed. <br />
<br />
Again, thanks for those who did attend and really appreciate the autographed books from Dog Eared Dan <br />
( http://wcfpublications.com/index.html ) who by the way finished first in the standings.

Okay, considering we only had sixteen shooters I'm thinking $700.00 for SASS ain't bad. Will send a short little article with the check and it usually makes it into the Chronicle in Nov. or Dec.
