EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
Illinois gun owners sometimes spend too much time on the negatives here in Illinois. Let’s look at some of the positive aspects that are over looked.

Right now one largest shooting events in the world is happening in Sparta Illinois, the Grand National Shotgun Championships. It is happening at the IDNR Shooting Complex which has the longest firing line in the world-3.5 miles. Illinois also is home of the largest indoor shooting range in the United States owned by a single person. GAT guns in East Dundee has 64 shooting lanes. Each week I get a few calls about people starting shooting ranges. Tuesday of this week I visited a gun shop putting a 5 lane shooting range in a smaller community. In Harrisburg Illinois a movie theater is being converted into a shooting range. I know some people are looking at old grocery stores as possible locations. There are at least 10 new outdoor ranges being developed that I know about.

One thing that no one talks about is the economic impact the shooting sports brings to Illinois. Illinois attracts deer hunters from all over the world because of our fine white tailed deer, we have firearm manufacturing that is second to none, and now because of concealed carry legislation, all kinds of firearm sales, ammunition sales, belts, holsters, training classes, videos, and books being purchased, shooting ranges being built and used, the list goes on and on. In the end the I believe the shooting sports will bring more than 2 Billion dollars annually into the Illinois economy in 2014. The other nice thing about that 2 billion plus dollars is that it is spread throughout Illinois. Every small community that has a place that sells firearms and Ammunition gets a piece of the pie. People driving to and from those shooting ranges and hunters driving to and from the field also stop, get gas and eat.

There is no economic boom on the antigun side of the equation. Remind people of that.
Go out today and recruit one new member for the Illinois Sate Rifle Association. Thank you for being a member.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) Highlight
Bloomberg’s MAIG has made major inroads in Illinois. Check to see if your mayor is on the list of members. Our Illinois Mayors need to be informed of the allegations against MAIG, its obvious divergence from its stated agenda and encouraged to withdraw their membership.

Remember to be polite and professional. Present them with the facts that MAIG has nothing to do with 'Illegal Guns' and everything to do with making gun ownership illegal.

Please forward on any correspondence you receive regarding this matter to the ISRA.
About those training classes. Please post info about instructors and courses for the non-resident concealed carry extortion receipt permits when you find them. Since it appears Illinois won't be honoring the permits of other states, I'll be interested in getting the training for the Illinois permit.
Surely the Chicago people who will be printing those "No Guns Allowed" door decals would disagree with that.
