If anyone is having problems completing their Illinois CCW application, speak up and maybe I can help. The Digital ID portion is particularly troublesome - it requires a Windows machine with Internet Explorer and specific versions to boot. The actual application can be completed with a Mac, Linux or Windows machine. But in both cases, the latest version of Java must be installed or the little spinning wheel will go on until the death of the universe!<br />

If you need help, I can provide you with some resources that may be of help. The NRA lobbyist has been staying right on top of this and his contacts have proven very helpful for unique problems. The Illinois State Police have been very responsive to problems with the applications.<br />
<br />
Since the initial screening is done by computer, certain things must be exact. For example, your driver's permit and FOID show your name as "JOHN Q PUBLIC," If you put in "John Q. Public" it won't match. Yes, even a period after your middle initial will cause an error. <br />
<br />
After you have completed your application, periodically go back in and check on the status. If there is an error, the ISP will be opening the site so that you can go back in and correct any errors. This is supposed to happen tomorrow - Thursday, January 9th.<br />

The latest rumor is that the initial batch of licenses will be in the mail by February 10th!
