I believe the 29th is the scheduled day of the GAF Muster (Grand Army of the Frontier). The Spring Muster got rained out this year.
I found GAF musters to be as much fun as SASS matches. You can participate as an Army scout with your SASS rifle and revolver(s), but there is no shotgunning in GAF. The musters start with a flag ceremony and sometimes a historical lesson on some aspect of military life or arms back in the Civil-Indian war era. There are usually fewer stages and they sometimes involve movement (advancing to a firing position, rescuing a fallen comrade before shooting, running an enemy soldier through with a sword) - entertaining things that also used to occur in the earlier days of SASS shooting. Sometimes a Gatling Gun makes an appearance.

A primary shooting difference between SASS and GAF is that misses are not counted in GAF shoots, but you have to keep firing until all the targets are hit, which involves reloading on the clock. Most stages (there are normally fewer than in SASS because they take more time) only use a rifle and one pistol, but occasionally a stage in the muster will call for a 2nd pistol (only one will be worn), so you might want to bring both pistols.

Another interesting aspect of GAF is that different classes of rifles can be used. Some people enjoy the historical aspects and build up a character around a particular historical military era. I've seen Sharps,Springfield Trapdoors, Krags and others used by members with a full kit and uniform for a different historical period. However, you can shoot as an Army scout, like I do, using your SASS guns and outfit.
... as an alternative, let's each bring a few extra boxes of revolver rounds and shoot our pistols before the match until the barrels are hot enough to serve as kidney warmers in our holsters. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/2gunsfiring_v1.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':2gunsfiring_v1:' />
