Hope ya had fun
Thanks to all the shooters who came to the August Brisatol shoot. Hope ya had fun. Next month, so everyone is reminded--we are only shooting on Saturday (Sept. 9) This is due to CCKC holding it's annual Corn Roast on Sunday the 10th. All of ya folks are invited to come shoot with us that Saturday, but, unfortunately, due to us having to do a total tear down of the range that Sunday, we will not be shooting at all that Sunday.

Our October shoot will, as usual, be held on both the second Saturday and Sunday as normal.

Some of you may have noticed that (on two stages at least) we were forced to move our rifle targets further out. The reason for this is we need to make further repairs to our equipment. With the Ruckus falling at the end of last month, and my commitments to that shoot, only limited repairs were able to be done for this shoot. Most of that will be accomplished by the Sept. Shoot. So things will be in a little closer then.

But, speaking of distances, and target placement, I refer you to the SASS Shooters Handbook, page 29:

"Targets are set at close to medium range. There are no absolute rules, but we suggest the following distances, by firearm, if using targets approximately 16' by 16'
* Revolver
7 to 10 yards i.e. 21 to 30 feet
* Shotgun
8 to 16 yards 24 to 48 feet
* Rifle
13 to 40 yards 39 to 120 feet

All the Bristol Cowboys are 18" by 24"
All the Square palte's are 16" by 16"
And all of our last set up distances were measured with a tape. All pistol targets were within SASS guidelines, most at Minamum distance. All shotgun were at 10 yards, and only two stages 5 and 6--put the rifle targets out to 35 yards and 30 yards respectively.

Next month--as I have said, repairs will have been completed and all rifle will be moved in to roughly minamum distances. Also, you will be happy to know, next month's stages will be handled by Jailbird and Huckleberry. However, due to Insurance reasons, no targets will be placed inside of the SASS minamum distance guidelines.
Had a great time at the shoot on Saturday. Stages were a bit more challenging and you had to be a bit more deliberate in your aim (Stage 2). Look forward to next month already. Hey, are you going to "Good Guys Posse" shoot this weekend? If so see you there!! <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/good.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':good:' />
Big Swede
Everything was set up very well. We got together and set up on Saturday and then shot. Everyone worked hard and p[layed hard. It was a good day.

I applaud moving the targets back to SASS minimum distances. I didn't get whomped by a large chunk all day.

Besides, I like distance shooting. Just another wierd thing about me....
First off --- I want to thank Tex for all he is doing for us at Bristol/CCKC. Him and I went to another CCKC BOD monthly meeting tonight and both of us are happy to see our BODs to be comfortable and willing to help/listen to us on SASS/Cowboy issues.
Tex Hewitt did write and reviewed with Huck and me, our new Bristol Plaines Pistoleeros Bylaws. The CCKC BOD overwelmingly approved Tex's draft !!!!!!! Some main items were -- who is a member , exactly who gets to vote on BPP cowboy issues, Cowboy RO duties , etc.
Tex really did a great job !!!
Some other items of interest
we asked and the BOD approved buying each CCKC range with a emergency "Quik Clot" type of bandage for uncontrolled bleeding and they granted us useage of the club tractor/frt. loader to help with set up/tear downs.
There is a possabilty of a Group Buy on shotgun shells thru our Shotgun Range. They order Rem. STS 12ga. loaded with #8 shot. The cost is around $48 a case ---- less if we can get a BIG order up. Let me or Tex/Huck if you would be interested {need not be a CCKC member but ALL Fed/State LAWS APPLY}.

As to Cowboy stages etc.
we all are aware that we can not please 100% of the shooters , 100% of the time. Some shooters like fast,close "burner" stages , some like more precision shots , some like "stand & deliver" and some like more of a field course.
We are going to try useing a blend of all the above
if people do not like shooting 16"X16" targets at 7/10 yards --- please just tell us --- we will try to use 20"X20" targets at that distance !!!!!

We as Match Officials are first off in the "Safety Bidness" and secondly we are in the Entertainment Bidness. We all want a Safe and Fun match and ONLY by working together as a group can we do this. Huck & I will listen to all ideas about stages --- just post/email us.

YOU DO NOT NEED to be a CCKC member to come out to our Sept. Corn/Pig Roast !!!! Come on out for some family fun ---- raffle tickets will be sold for Firearms , Childrens Prizes , Outdoors Womens gear , archery items and many other prizes. There will be free games etc. for the children,Free Hay Rides ,visit/photo by Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl of the U.S. Forestry and cold beer for adults{beer sales start at Noon}

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Jailbird
Thanksfor the kind words. WE apprecate them more then you'll ever know!

AS for the speed stage, it might suprize folks to know that the Pistol target was at exactly 7 yards, the rifle target was at exactly 13 yards, and the shotgun target was at 12 yards. You might be even more suprized to learn that I watched one fast shooter on my posse(Kid K) do that stage, starting out sitting, in 12.64 seconds.

Tex
