Today 3 Sept. 2006 at the Sycamore Shoot, our dear friend and fellow GGP Member, Turkey Legs was hit in the right eye by some splatter from a neighboring stage. Yes she had side shields on her glasses, but somehow the splatter got through. I know this was very painful and frightening for her. I hope she checks in here with some good news.<br />

Not having been there, I place no blame on anyone. It's one of those things that shooting at steel makes possible. Knowing Sycamore as I do, I'm sure they did all within there power to keep splater to a minamul.<br />

High odds against getting hit the way she did. As I understand it, she tilted her head down to mark the score sheet and the splatter found its way in between the top of her glasses and the bottom of the brim of her hat. What are the odds? I guess it's time for sombreros and/or goggles. Sometimes you wonder how things like this can happen when you take all the right precautions and you still get whacked.<br />

The last couple of shoots have been good at Sycamore, but today I also got nailed about four times, two of which where the stinger in the face kind. Says that the mandatory side shields that are becoming more common is not a bad thing. We only got two eyes and many shoots to attend.

The good news is that I didn't have any lead in my eye but the piece of lead did scratch on my cornea. They gave me some antibiotic to fight any infection and some other stuff to help with the discomfort so I won't scratch it. <br />

So I will back shooting again this weekend - though I might be looking into wearing swimming goggles so I don't get hit again!<br />

A very frightening experience. Thank the big guy you are alright. I guess we will all have to start wearing those face shields like the people who do grinding use. Tina, AM SO THRILLED to hear you are going to be OK. Having had some serious eye complications myself in the past I know what anxiety you must have gone through. However, good things happen to good people so maybe this is just a lesson to learn and that is all. Speaking from that experience, do take all the eye drops that were suggested and you will be fine. Someone said you would be "back to normal."
