That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!

We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.

Final schedule to be finalized in February.

Greetings from Idaho!

I check out the Hitching Post on occasion to make sure all of you are staying under control. Anyway, have been to a few SASS shoots since I moved out here Oct. 1. There are several differences -- much less focus on safety (that does not please me); no nice stage designs like at Beloit, KK, or Oconomowoc (just targets set up in plain shooting bays); everybody has race guns; everybody uses a '97; most shoot .38's; most everyone I would say is a gamer; everybody is very nice however. One of the clubs shoots all year round. There are no special shoots except for the Idaho state SASS champinships in August. One of the shooters in our midst hails from Ontario, OR and he is the state champ. Great guy and very very very fast.

Anyway, just wanted to say howdy to everyone. Enjoyed the Halloween pics! What klthe heck was JJ wearing? Looked like Friar Tuck . . . Wish I could have been there to join you. All y'all take care. If anyone is coming this way, please let me know (jfritz@woodgrain.com).
Sent you one email, no response. Forgot how to type I guess. Is their champion Idaho John? Have you met Idaho John? I'll tell you more about him later.

Hope everything is going well for you and I will give the email a try or call you. Maybe you remember how to answer the phone!
Glad that you're checking in occasionally. At the Halloween Shoot I was a Franciscan for the day. Offered to absolve all sins, perform marriages and vocationally council young boys. I got no takers. I guess we have no sinners in the posse. During the safety meeting it was explained that no one would be allowed to play with Jailbird's udders. You missed a fun shoot. Hope that you will visit when you might be in town.

Good to hear from you! SASS is alive and well in Idaho I guess. I am a little surprised at all the gamers you mention - I sort of have the idea that Idahoans would be for strange and unusual guns of the old West. ?How do they score matches - like us or by match placement in each stage.
  • Hey There Muddy,
Dice, I did receive your other E-M but with starting a new job, moving to a strange area, leaving my family in WI, etc. etc., I just didn't make time to respond. You can always send me a note on my company E-M (jfritz@woodgrain.com) or give me a call on my mobile (24/7) at 208.724.1586. Glad everything is good with you. Liked your family pic from the banquet. Do not know Idaho John. The guy from Oregon who shoots with us and is the OR state champ is Soncho Ponza. He is of Mexican descent, a terrifically nice guy and is he ever fast!!!

Got to go. Hope all is well with you and yours.
PtBW, it is great to hear from you. Yes, I also hope our trails cross again sometime. There is no one out here who shoots Elder Statesman! In fact, there are very few Seniors. I have met some nice people but the groups here just do not compare to the Good Guys Posse. Please take care and stay in touch.
Hey there to you too LL. Good to see your post. The Lt. was out to visit me from Oct. 25-31 and we had a blast. Did some panning for gold, went shooting, caught some trout, explored the mountains, visited a WWII museum, went to a movie, yacked a lot, and just had a great time. I really miss not being around him every day!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I'm heading back to WI in two weeks for Thanksgiving and then will go back again over Christmas. However, that's just not the same as being there every day . . . .

Trust school is going well for you. Do stay in touch and take care.

They score like you do. No real neat guns either. Mostly '97's (few originals), Rugers, etc. Hardly anyone dresses historically accurate either. Lots of jeans and boots with a kinda cowboy hat. They are more interested in how fast they can go rather than anything else. As I mentioned earlier, they also don't pay much attention to safety. A minimal safety briefing at the start. It is very different than what I became accutomed to in Wisc. However, the scenery is very very cool!!
