OK. Here comes deer hunting season. Time to go out to the range and sight in the old deer rifle. Right? Better use the bore sighter. Just put in the bore sighter, fire off a shot and see where it hits. Right? WRONG!<br />

This is what happens when you fire off a shot with the bore sighter still in the barrel. The fluted barrels on the fancy rifles peel very nicely. Sure looks like a nice rifle has been ruined. I dont know if the shooter was hurt. So be careful out there!<br />

    Is that barrel still BATF legal? I don't know if they measure perpendicular to the bolt face or follow the barrel contour. Grit

    No, Grit, I believe that gun is now considered a "blunderbuss" so BATF doesn't care.<br />

    Actually, it isn't as much of a problem as it looks at first glance. IT is one way to justify getting a new barrel on your rifle, and the rest of the gun is in fine shape. Shore do look purdy, though! Just needs some flowers.
