That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!
We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.
Final schedule to be finalized in February.
I inherited a first generation Colt and the date on the frame is 1874. Probably 40-50 years ago my dad took it to our local gunsmith and had the .32 WCF cylinder cut and modified into a .22 long rifle. He had the gunsmith insert a .22 long rifle barrel into the .32 WCF barrel frame because the barrel had been burnt up with either black powder or something. It looks great except for the .22 modification and works fine.

Is it possible to rework this handgun back into the .32-20 or other cowboy caliber using Colt parts?

If so, does anyone out there know of a resource to have this done? Thanks

If they can't turn it back into 32/20, I'm sure there is enough original material to make it 44/40 or 45LC. There are a number of restorers out there, but I think the best would be Turnbull.
Thanks, WR. I sent Turnbull Restoration an E-M just now. Will let you know what they say....

MGS You also might want to contact U.s. Patent Firearms. I believe they would be able to help. Big Grit

Sure, E Z, that's what I'll do. You bet ........... when cows fly!! I will show it to you though both before and after.......
Last month when I had those 1st Gen. Colts for sale I was told by a very knowledgeable collector that it would NOT be a good idea to shoot the Colt .45lc that was built it 1884. This one had the black powder frame. Email or pm me and I will get you the pards info if you would like to ask him about it.
Reline the barrel and put in a new cylinder. The hammer probably wasn't altered but the fireing pin was to use a rimfire round. There are a few good barrel reliners out there and Colt or USAF can get the parts (cylinder, base pin & bushing..maybe a hand) or one of the gun parts supplyers. Fit & time it out.

Keep dreamin' E Z; that's what you do best......... :P
