Work days at the new range!

Thanks to Saguaro Kid, his flatbed semi and forklift, all of our props and such are now out at the new range. Watching SK maneuver that big semi out to the range was a sight to see. We have a lot to do before our first shoot and we are a bit behind due to all the rain. We need warm bodies out there with rakes and such to get the rest of the range in shape while we wait on some material to be delivered. JJ, Asleep & I will be out there working most every day this week (weather permitting) along with some volunteers. <br />

We would appreciate any help you can give us to get the range ready. Our biggest job right now is to rake up and remove rocks from the target area and generally smooth out and finish what the bulldozer roughed out. Please get involved and come out and help get YOUR range ready for our first shoot. We need rakes, shovels and a wheelbarrow if possible. Bring gloves and skeeter spray!<br />

If you can come out during the week and lend a hand, give JJ or me a hollar to find out what will be needed that day. Bristol will be shooting Saturday instead of Sunday this month due to the club cornroast. So if you can make it out Sunday, let us know and we can organize a work party.<br />

Besides SK, Johnny Popper hauled out the shooting tables and a bunch of other stuff yesterday. Thanks to both of our teamsters for all their long suffering work. <br />

So what DD said and I would imagine that we will be checking the web site every AM & PM when we get up and before going to bed. So please coordinate with one of us as we would prefer to have one of the BOD out there when any of our volunteers are out there working. Also we supposedly have some idea of a game plan on how we want to proceed with the development of the new range.<br />
<br />
The main idea is to get it to the stage where we can hold a shoot. If that means not making it "pretty" with all the props, etc. until later, so be it. Our first priority is to get it to the point where it is safe and shootable with five stages. The shotgun walk and perhaps the shielding by the loading/unloading tables might not be in place for the first shoot. We are however shielding the entire berm to prevent any and all ricochet, so with proper target placement there won't be any splatter to speak of (that's why we need the help in getting any and all rocks of any size out of the area from the firing line to the shield. Safety first, then fun, and after that it's up the posse to figure out how to enjoy it. <br />
<br />
By the time we get to our first full year (2008) we will have one of what we think will be one of the finer cowboy shooting ranges in the area. Yeah I know I should give my humility speech now but I really need an audience of at least five hundred for that one. If you can lend a hand come on out after talking with DD or I. Might even be we'll have enough rakes, shovels and other implements of destruction so you don't have to bring anything but your body out there.

I've got to tell ya,if you liked our old range,you'll love this one.Whats so great you may ask,well for one theres "Shade",wonderfull "Shade" and in the "Woods". Just got in folks and had way to much fun today. Because we had so much fun today we decided that tomorrow well take a break by working around our own houses tomorrow and scout for some of the hardware for the building of the berm shield. <br />
<br />
We'll be out there again on Thursday and anyone ambitious enough or free to make it out there is more than welcome. Believe that we have enough rakes and shovels out there so all you need do is bring the body and perhaps some water or other drinks to prevent any dehydration.<br />

Many thanks to the folks who came out to lend a hand today and to Tooth for bringing out the big rake. Even though it rained a bit, much was accomplished. We'll be out there again tomorrow and Saturday and Sunday, unless of course the weather stops us. Check here before you come out in case we have to cancel.<br />
