Per Jeweler Jim's suggestion, I have some lead for sale. They are old boat anchors for small boats. I have the following weights:
10, 5 (2 of those), and one that is 6 or 7. Let me know if you are interested.

In the last month I have seen scrap prices above $1.60 a pound with it going for $1.30 a pound today. ( http://www.metalprices.com/ ) Anyway you look at it, it's been ugly lately to try and buy any lead and the garages are starting to dry up as sources for lead (wheel weights) as the scrapers out there are now paying the garage owners for it.
As I told Muddy, I only have one place left that will give it to me for nothing and that will probably disappear as soon as a scraper shows up and the owner realizes that he's giving away money. The recycling centers are paying 35 cents a pound for it today. So you can figure it from there (roughly nine bucks if you take it to a recycling center). To a shooter who casts it should probably be worth at least ten bucks anyway.

I'll start the bidding at $.01 per pound.

I happen to know that he's a "bum pay" so don't accept any offers from the gnome. Also know he don't need the lead, so he's jerking your chain.

  • Pure, soft lead? If they are, save them for me. They'll be soft if you can diig your thumbnail into them.

Update -- seems that what I have are not made of lead but rather cast iron. My dad always referred to them as lead weights so I just assumed they were made of lead. NOT! Anyone want to melt these down for bullets?? <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/point.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':point:' />
