That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!

We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.

Final schedule to be finalized in February.

Comanche Moon to Air

Part 1 of Larry McMurtry's 3-part COMANCHE MOON will premiere at 8:00 PM tomorrow (Sunday 1/13) on CBS. Parts 2 and 3 will air this Tuesday and Wednesday, respectfully.
Don't know if it'll hold a candle to his LONESOME DOVE but considering he's also a co-screenwriter on this as well as the author of the novel, it'll probably be well worth checking out.

Let's hope the show was as good as the book.

Watched the first segment last night. Just so-so. Story line was all over the place and it was sometimes hard to follow the plot - seemed disjointed. Not nearly as good as the original Lonesome Dove.
  • Same reaction here. Hopefully, the next two parts will redeem the whole.
  • Same here I had a hard time staying with it, I will try again tonight.
Unfortunately, Part 2 wasn't a whole lot better. Just doesn't seem that a whole lot of thought went into this movie. Never read the book. Has anyone out there read it and are they following the book plot? Surprised Val Kilmer is in such a poor movie . . . He was MUCH MUCH better as Doc Holiday in Tombstone!!
  • You are so right Muddy. The only thing one can say about it is well,it a new western. They changed the story line a lot from the book.I read the book in 06,didn't like the book at all.It was a tough one to read. Also i found getting on a horse backwards, even if your drunk with boose or drunk with love as far fetched as indians hanging a basket over a cliff with a man inside.I think the author has been reading Harry Potter books.?If you wish to read more on this go on the SASS wire, they have at least 5 pages on it.
  • Never read this book but did read Lonesome Dove. How much off the original novel story-line is the parrot attack on Ahumado? At first, I assumed he was actually hallucinating from the scorpion-sting venom. I mean, how far south did they go? I thought they were just into Mexico not Central/South America.
Have to get out an ornithology book.

Well, watched the 3rd segment. Never got any better. Overall, I'd give it two thumbs down and a D-. Did enjoy seeing Wes Studi again. Always enjoy his portrayal of a Native American. Adam Beach was just so-so. Enjoyed him better in Wind Talkers. Now, where did I put my copy of Tombstone ...... Dances With Wolves ...... Silverado ...... Jeremiah Johnson ...... Magnificent Seven .......... Once Upon A Time in the West ........ The Searchers ........ The Shootist ..... How the West Was Won, and on and on and on
