That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!

We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.

Final schedule to be finalized in February.

New FOID App

For Illinois shooters who may have an FOID renewal date approaching: The new FOID application, which became effective on June 1, 2008, as a result of S.B. 1094 (now Public Act 95-058) is now on-line at:

www.isp.state.il.us/foid/firearms.cfm

This new law and the application provide for a $10.00 fee with a ten-year expiration/renewal period.

Although some portions of the State Police website still havent updated these details, the new application itself, posted on June 1, does. Its set up similar to Dennys match entry form. With Adobe, you can fill it in and print it out, add your photo plus $10 and mail it in.

Just a heads up. You dont want to send in an obsolete form and fee, starting a bureaucratic mess which might last past your expiration date before things are put right.

Thanks for the update. Don't want to give them any excuses as to why you haven't received your renewal yet.

It's about time they changed the form. I sent mine in with a picture and the FOID came back with me Driver's License picture on it. Can't beat technology!
• Same here for me (Re: the picture) and also for my wife and other friends. You have to provide your Illinois Driver's License number or State Identification number on the FOID application. They have these already-submitted photos digitally stored in their data base. Why can't they just say, "If you have a currently valid Illinois Driver's License or State ID, you don't have to submit a photo."(?) No - they make you go through the trouble of getting and providing a photo, only to have them toss that one out and use the one that they have in their file anyway.
They must have to take classes to learn to think like this.

I renewed mine about 6 months ago but only got the 5 year one. Of course they used a 10 year old driver's license photo when I had a big bushy mustache! Really great for ID purposes!
  • The new law (ten years for ten bucks) just took effect Sunday (June 1).

Figures. Mine expired in March, so I had no choice.
  • It could be worse. Those who live in the land of King Richard, must submit TWO photographs per firearm plus pay a fee EVERY year. Then, after theyre registered (or re-registered) the citizen gets one photograph back per firearm with rubber stamp ink right across the face. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Now that Alderman Mell has prevailed after the mess he created for himself (the City Councils Police Committee voted yesterday to expand his proposal from a 30-day to a 120-day amnesty and will allow anyone who ever had any firearm legally registered with the city on which the registration lapsed, to have the opportunity to re-register them with no penalty.) Hmm, I smell a revenue consideration.

They also agreed to discuss the big picture in depth and perhaps make some further changes to the program.

Once again, hmm.

Who do you trust? Chicago politicians are not at the top of my list.
