That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!
We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.
Final schedule to be finalized in February.
Name the new prop contest!
Out at Longtooth's Horse Ranch, Longtooth and Dastardly Dan have been busy building a fort to use as a prop out at the range. A few photos are below of the progress. They hope to have it out to the range and set up for our September match.<br />
<br />
Now for the contest - what to name the fort? Let's hear a few suggestions! <br />
<br />
I'll start it off with Fort Sackett after the book/movie "The Sacketts" written by Louis L'Amour with Sam Elliot and Tom Selleck. I know there are many better ideas out there so lets hear them.<br />

Fort Ivystone <br />

Or maybe as we keep rising from the ashes... Fort Phoenix.

Its a little different then most and was a common word... and defensive tactic.... in the "old west". The "circiling of the wagons " was an instant, and life saving, redoubt.<br />
<br />
[Its doubtless; Custer was redoubtless! heehee]<br />
<br />
<br />
See below from Websters<br />
<br />
1 a : a small, usually temporary, enclosed defensive work <br />
1 b : a defended position or protective barrier <br />
2 a : a secure retreat <br />
2 b : a STRONGHOLD<br />

PS: I like the previous idea about the trail boss's picking the "best five or six" and then a vote.
<br />
I like that even better!
<br />
The Gun Fighters are not going to be happy with us, but they can shoot it double duelist. So start writing up your complaints now so we can make the adjustments (or not) after the next shoot. <br />
<br />
God I love to stir the pot!
Finally remembered from my school days at S.I.U. <br />
<br />
Fort Defiance, known as Camp Defiance during the American Civil War, is a former military fortification located at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers near Cairo in Alexander County, Illinois. The strategic significance of the site has been known since prehistoric times with archaeological evidence of warfare dating to the Mississippian era. It is the southernmost point in the state of Illinois. Fort Defiance Park, formerly a State Park, is owned and maintained by the city of Cairo. At 279 feet (85 m) elevation, Fort Defiance Point is Illinois' lowest point.
For the fearless leader who blazed new trails to unknown territory in search of new lands to defeat the wicked and defend the good like every Saturday afternoon western did before him! <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pokey.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pokey:' /> <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/innocent.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/gunfighter.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':gunfighter:' /> <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/2gunsfiring_v1.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':2gunsfiring_v1:' />
