That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!

We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.

Final schedule to be finalized in February.

Big screw up and an apology

Saturday night at the fall banquet we had a drawing that had many nice prizes. My grandson was called upon to draw the tickets and jokingly I told him to pick my ticket first. Well, he did and now I feel that it is time to take care of this matter hopefully once and for all.

When I go to Larry's Gun Shop to pick up the shotgun, it will go directly to Dangeroous Denny's gun safe and be used as a prize for the clean shoot drawing at Dry Gulch Ranch for the 2009 season.

I apologize for this instance and hope that you all can see that this wasn't done to get a free shotgun. It was an instance of an innocent child taking his grandpa literally and that is it. I don't "need" this shotgun and I need even less that you all would think that I would do this intentionally to get something like this shotgun in any other way that Speedy Dan from Guns of Delavan intended.
You were a shooting friend of mine long before I learned that cowboy shooting existed. In fact you introduced me to it. And I know you to be an honest and principled person. But things like this can happen in life even when our intent was pure.

I applaud you for stepping forward and taking this action to remove any misperception that it was intentional. You did the right thing, SK, and you have shown that the cowboy way is alive and well.
Not for a moment did I believe that SK was trying to pull any shenanigans. That being said I appreciate you coming forward in the fashion that you have.

If from the outside, unemotionally looking in, I can see where there could be questions. DD and I had Sk and his grandson handing out the tickets and the pins before the banquet. Then we had the youngster pull the tickets for the drawing. With Silverado Cobb being as small and/or short I had to hold the darn hat low enough for him to get his paws in there to get any of the tickets. Shouldn't have used the hat and looking back I can see where DD and I could also be called into question on this one. My old man used to say that "the road to He!! is paved with good intentions" and I used to hate it every time I heard it. Sometimes we ain't judged by our intentions and we're judged by appearances or perception. If you hear someone jokingly tell someone to pull their ticket and then he does it; I can see where there could be some questions in some people's minds.

Out of something that possibly calls into question DD, SK & I, I think we will have some good. I suspect that from now on no board member will be allowed to participate in any drawings of any kind. As with any dealings with any of the boards that I've participated on, you have to be squeaky clean. Fiduciary duty I believe they call it. Anyway, SK thanks for addressing what could be called into question and know that we want to try and remain above reproach.

Saquaro, Ididn't even think anything about it. I never thought any more than you did that he would actually look for your number! If in fact he did I think its pretty funny. Grit
  • SK,Yes i to can say that you have been a good pard to me since i've been on the board and beond. That said i want you to know that i think you've done the right thing here for the good of the posse and the board.
  • Saguaro, I think you're beating yourself up for nothing. I can't imagine any of the Good Guys thinking any bad thoughts. You're a stand-up Pard. Only a coincedence.
  • And I thought you were just plain lucky! I never thought it was anything else but a lucky pick.

Thank you.
PS: Does he always do what you tell him?
  • SAQUARO, PLEASE DON'T THINK THAT WAY. I AGREE THAT YOUR BEATING YOURSELF UP OVER NOTHING. IT WAS JUST "PLAIN LUCK" AND I CAN'T IMAGINE ANYONE THINKING ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT. YOUR A STAND UP COWBOY. YOU WON IT, IT'S YOUR'S........... <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/please.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':please:' /> ..........KEEP IT.

Wow, it's amazing how a simple remark can come back and bite you in the ass when in jest it's something that many other people have probably done numerous times with no success.

I would never think any wrong doing was at work here in fact I told the table I was sitting at how lucky you were to have won the shotgun and your grandchild picked the winning ticket for you.

You are and always will be one stand up gentleman in my mind. First class all the way.

You are a true "good guy" and even a better grandpa! Kids literal and pure few of the world is one of the reasons there so special! As far as I see it the shotgun is yours but respect any decision you make. I can tell you one thing though if you do put it back on the chopping block and I win it, it will go back to its rightful owner, YOU!!
• SK you have shown that you are truly a stand up guy. Furthermore I can't believe that anybody thought your remark was anything but innocent. If anyone thought differently they should be ashamed of themselves. I agree with Kidd Casey and Dirt Pyle you should keep the shotgun, but I respect your decision. And like Dirt Pyle I hope I win it so I can return it to the rightful owner.
