That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!
We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.
Final schedule to be finalized in February.
SXS that don't lock up...

Safety Issue...
I would have thought that this was a no brainer, but apparently it isn't.

On the SASS wire there has been some discussion about a number of shooters at Winter Range that were using side by side shotguns that don't lock up. Apparently what you have to do is hold the shotgun closed when you shoot it and when you take the pressure off the barrels it flops open for a faster reload. For starters if you have a hang fire you could find yourself or the timer injured or dead. I suppose that there is also the possibility that you might be able to get a discharge without having the barrels completely closed, also causing the opportunity for injury. The thread on the wire has degenerated into something less than sane as far as discussion. At least on the closed TG wire we are able to stay a little more civil with each other.

Anyway, it is my understanding that the Wild Bunch has promulgated a new rule stating that anyone found using a double barrel that doesn't lock up will receive a Match DQ.

I want to state here and hopefully remember to bring it up at each of the safety meetings before each match that the MINIMUM PENALTY for trying crap like this at our range will also be a Match DQ. Some of us harass each other in a joking way about being a gamer, but this goes way over the top. If someone were to be injured by something like this I suspect we could loose our insurance and it's hard enough and expensive enough without going into something like this.

We're here to be safe and have fun and wouldn't expect anything like this from any of our shooters, but wanted to get this said anyway. End of lecture.
I agree. This is a no brainer.

In my opinion, that is a broken firearm. Not safe to shoot until fixed.
Its things like this that take the fun of of the game. Someone always trying to get the edge. It just isn't as much fun for us as it once was. Grandpa 6 and Loreedarling'

However, all that being said, I'm sure my comments ticked a few folks off. Just speakfing my piece as is provided for me under the Constituion and the Bill of Rights. Lets get back to just having some fun and not making rules that allow a chosen few to always win every match....
