That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!
We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.
Final schedule to be finalized in February.
Come hell AND high water!
This has been a very busy year so far for the Rough Riders - the cowboys that do all the grunt work for our shoots. Before our first shoot in April, the heavy rains and snowmelt washed out much of the improvements we had made to the range. But the Rough Riders got out there with shovels and rakes along with some heavy equipment from Thunderbird Kid and restored the range in time for our April shoot. But after our May shoot, prolonged heavy rains washed it out even worse. Once again the Rough Riders got out there and got the range back in shape for our June match. Our luck didn't hold! A week ago the vicious storms that went through the area did the most damage of all - washing out the road and depositing it down at stage six, washing out around the props and loading tables, etc. Again, the Rough Riders spent many days out there getting things in shape for the June shoot.

The range is now ready for a shoot and the June shoot will be as planned on June 28th!
Here are some photos that tell the story -
We believe that we have a longer term solution ready for implementation, but our primary focus was to get the range ready for this month's shoot. Having said that, every time the repair was made we got hammered again.

Believe that if nothing else as DD says "COME HELL AND HIGH WATER!" the GGP will shoot and we have proved that with the work it took to get things straightened out as many times as it did. The only reason we'll cancel a shoot is if it is pouring rain at the time of the start or as the pictures show it running water eight to twelve inches deep. Before the last storm we had put a number of railroad ties in the roadway to try and slow any future water damage and the water piled them up by the porta potty and scattered them all over.
Before or after the match this Sunday you can see how much of the sand washed past stage six. What was a small step down on stage four and five now has the walkway about a foot or more above the roadway. We have filled in to avoid any problems as best we could and would encourage all shooters and spectators to pay attention when walking the range. Actually I think that the condition of the roadway is as good or better than it's ever been. If you click and view the full images of the pictures you will get some idea of what we've had to deal with this month.

Thanks for all the shooters who come out and shoot at "WET GULCH RANCH."
