What does the "Status" field represent in my profile?

It is simply a way of letting folks know your availability. For example you might tell folks you are moving or on vacation so if they are looking for you they can check your status and see why you haven't answered a PM or post. Probably just a frill that most folks won't use, but it can be useful.
