That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!
We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.
Final schedule to be finalized in February.
Need an extra $100.00!?
If you have any of those non functioning or cheap small calibre hand guns here is a way to get one hundred a piece for them. Actually any hand or long gun that is worth less than a hundred bucks that you can trade in for the debit cards. Great deal, but you might want to get there early as I'm told that they sometimes run out of the debit cards half way through the day.
I'm thinking I got a couple of cheap .25's that could be used as weights for fishing lines that I'll convert into $200.00

Probably use the cards to buy ammunition or other firearms related products if not putting it towards a new gun. Thanks Mayor Rahm!

After going through the gun cabinets I only found one that is appropriate for the turn in. One hundred for a Spanish .25 semi is worth the drive into the war zone. Thinking they might have sufficient police presence for the turn ins to make it relatively safe while it's happening. And good old Farm & Fleet will take the cards for ammo or whatever...

This is a long one so grab your favorite beverage and enjoy…

Had their gun buy back in Chicago today and I send my son into the “war zone” with a little Spanish made 25-semi auto that was in very rough shape. The thing would cycle, but surely wasn’t worth fifty bucks and they were giving $100.00 gift cards for each gun turned in “no questions asked.”
As he’s fairly close to one of the turn in sights (going to med school and living in the city) it was not a costly trip gas or time wise. Told him to be real carful before he got out of his car and kind of look around before doing so. Said that he found a parking spot close to the place and there wasn’t anybody standing around. He hesitated and then got out of his vehicle and started to walk up to the place and he said at that point a bunch or many others exited their cars also so he started the “run up” to the place as others weren’t comfy about standing around outside the place. He got in second in the line to go in to turn in the guns and said he couldn’t believe what people were carrying the guns in (garbage bags, paper bags, rolled up in linens, etc., etc.). So the cops come out of the place and ask “Are any of these guns loaded?” Seems that most of them were and they moved these people to the front of the line as it would seem that most hadn’t a clue on how to unload them and they wanted to get these inside first. My son said he was happy to let them go before him, as standing around with all these idiots with loaded guns didn’t make him feel real secure. When he finally gets into the place the “two lady cops” (my son’s words) at a table take his gun and didn’t think it was real, then the male cops come out from the back (say that yes it’s a real gun) as they take all of them into a secure area to make sure they’re empty and then bring them back for tagging and he gets his gift card that is good for sixty days anywhere “except a gun store.” How they can stop a gift card from working at a gun store is beyond me. Farm & Fleet sells guns and ammo and I’m pretty sure the cards will work there.

As he described the scene he said many of the guns especially some of the long guns were worth a bunch more than a hundred bucks and he questioned whether they would be in fact destroyed and/or why in the hell weren’t they taking them to a gun shop to get many hundreds more for them. Told him that as he described the vast majority of the people (as ancient or little old black ladies) had no clue what they had and/or also didn’t have the “FOID Card” necessary to sell them at the gun shops.

So Mayor Rahm has saved tens of thousands of lives and given these nice little old ladies grocery money. So my kid has a gift card for extra groceries and the worthless 25 auto that the “old man” used to use on the trap line gets melted. Really do wonder if all the guns end up as scrap metal and how many deals are made before the guns go inside by enterprising individuals making buys on the street. Maybe Sargent Smokepole could cast up a few opinions on that one.
