EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE <br />
Wednesday we handily defeated HB0831 Amendment #1. Both bill and bad amendment were sponsored Kelly Cassidy ( D Chicago ) Amendment #1, which became the bill, would have instituted a New York style may issue which would have been among the worst in the United States. Amendment #1 was defeated as follows: Yeas 76 Nays 31 not voting 5 and those voting present 6. In reality that translates to 88 votes against the bill.<br />

While defeating HB0831 Amendment #1 was important what happened on the House Floor during the "debate" was most revealing. Remember, I have been telling you how much the anti-gunners hate you. The events on the House Floor prove exactly that. During the discussion Representative Cassidy's condescending attitude toward gun owners was as transparent as plate glass.<br />

During the debate Representative Scott Drury ( D Highland Park ) showed himself to be an elitist snob of the worst order. Drury berated gun owners and the Representatives who believe in the Second Amendment. I hope this is recorded somewhere because you need to see it. There is no question Cassidy and Drury are enemies of the Second Amendment and the right of self defense.<br />

Today we will see our first vote on HB0997. No matter what happens, whether we win or we lose this is not the end of the fight to preserve the Second Amendment and the right of self defense outside the home in Illinois. I told everyone last week our resolve will be tested. It looks like the first test will be today. <br />
