[font='Times']OF THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY TO RESIST THE EROSION OF YOUR [/font]<br />
[font='Times']SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS, AND HUNTING PRIVILEGES [/font]<br />
[font='Times']The minimum you can do: [/font]<br />
[font='Times']____ [/font][font='Times']Recruit a new ISRA Member. [/font][font='Times']For Pete’s sake, [/font][font='Times']membership only costs $2.08 [/font][font='Times']a [/font][font='Times']month! [/font][font='Times']I’ll bet your buddies spend twice that amount in the office coffee machine. [/font][font='Times']Membership drives effectiveness. [/font][font='Times']The more members we have, the more attention we can demand from legislators. [/font][font='Times'](You can recruit your own family members too; the ISRA offers a family plan) [/font]<br />
[font='Times']Ask them to become a part of the team. When certain members of the legislature attempt to restrict their right to self defense, to own the kind of rifles, handguns and shotguns they want, to close shooting ranges and State Hunting Preserves, to tell them what kind of knife they can own [/font][font='Times'](Yea, we do that too) [/font][font='Times']the ISRA is there to thwart those attempts. [/font][font='Times']The ISRA supports four lobbyists in Springfield [/font][font='Times']that are there during every legislative session to protect your interests. [/font]<br />
[font='Times']Not only do we defend your rights and interests against assault, we take the fight to The Enemy through aggressive initiation of legislation to roll back onerous restrictions previously imposed on the gun owners of this state by misguided politicians. [/font]<br />
[font='Times']The Enemy never sleeps, neither does the ISRA. [/font][font='Times']Take that extra step: [/font]<br />
[font='Times']____ [/font][font='Times']Join other pro-Second Amendment gun organizations. [/font][font='Times']NRA, [/font][font='Times']Gun Owners of America, The Second Amendment Foundation and others. They all use different tools and work in different venues to shield you from The Enemy. [/font]<br />
[font='Times']Become a Warrior:[/font]<br />
[font='Times']When you receive an [/font][font='Times']ISRA ALERT [/font][font='Times']or notice something in the news that affects your rights, don’t wait [/font]<br />
[font='Times']for someone else to call or write, [/font][font='Times']YOU DO IT! [/font][font='Times']Always be respectful. [/font]<br />
[font='Times']Remember: The most important thing to a politician is job security. [/font][font='Times']One call, fax, letter or e-mail from a constituent is generally regarded as representing the views of 100 other constituents that couldn’t/wouldn’t contact the legislator. [/font][font='Times']Enter the names of your state Senator and Representative into your cell phone so you can easily contact them on important matters. [/font]<br />
[font='Times']Not only should you know the names of your representatives in the legislature, they should know your name! [/font]<br />
[font='Times']Become the Ultimate Warrior. The following list is for those Bulldogs wanting to take the fight to The Enemy themselves on a local, regional and national basis: [/font]

  [font='Times']____ Take your old copies of the ISRA Illinois Shooter to the waiting room of your doctors office, dentist’s office, barber shop, auto dealership or other waiting area where people are stuck and have an opportunity to read. Further their education. [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Print labels that say “Courtesy of the Illinois State Rifle Association”. Paste them over the address label on your old gun magazines. Take those magazines to those same waiting rooms. [/font][font='Times'](Another educational opportunity that promotes your ISRA) [/font]<br />

  [font='Times']____ If you have writing skills, write to your local newspaper’s “Voice-of-the-Reader” column about gun issues. Express your displeasure about, or support for, legislation that affects your right to self defense, gun ownership, hunting privileges, conservation issues, etc. Voice-of-the-Reader columns are second only to the Sports Page in readership. [/font][font='Times'](Did I say public education?) [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Enter the numbers of national and local radio talk show hosts into your cell phone so you can quickly and easily respond with your opinions about Second Amendment issues. [/font][font='Times'](You guessed it, public education) [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Take your wife, a friend, a work buddy, a neighborhood youngster shooting. With 50% of all marriages ending in divorce and the consequent proliferation of single parent families, many Moms’ and Dads’ don’t have time to introduce their kids to shooting. You can help. Remember, when you introduce someone to shooting, you influence how they vote. [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Help with or organize youth/adult shooting events. The ISRA can help with guns and other equipment. Just call the office. [/font][font='Times'](1-815-635-3198) [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Take a non-hunter hunting. [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Volunteer to work a gun show, even if it’s only for half-a-day. You’ll be surprised at how many gun owners are ignorant of the issues. You can fix that. [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Volunteer to help a local political or judicial candidate who supports your views.<br />
  Make a campaign donation, man a phone bank, walk door to door distributing literature or other assistance as needed. Remember, the local city mayor’s position, or county board member can be the next candidate for Governor, Senator or Representative. Support someone who reflects your views. [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Copy and send pertinent Second Amendment news to your e-mail list. Be sure and give them an opportunity to opt out. [/font]<br />
• <br />
  [font='Times']____ Sign up for some of the enemy’s website e-mail alerts. Play dumb and ask simple questions about their stories or editorials. Example: The GunGuys [/font][font='Times'](don’ t let the name fool you) [/font][font='Times']has a section called America’s Shooting Gallery in which they highlight crimes committed with guns. One recent story indicated a man shot at two children on a school bus in Chicago. A good question to ask on their e-mail response system would be, “Doesn’t Chicago have a gun ban?” “How could this man have gotten a gun?” The question ties up these donut heads and a reasoned argument might even get them to thinking. Well, maybe not, but its fun to monkey with their heads anyway. [/font]<br />
  [font='Times']I’m sure you could think of something even more clever, but you get the idea. [/font]<br />

It’s only through the efforts of committed [/font][font='Times']ISRA [/font][font='Times']members that the organization can be successful. Don’t let your family down, don’t let your country down.
