EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
This is a confusing time for gun owners in Illinois. We are seeing concealed carry deadlines being extended by the courts, Home Rule Communities trying to pass various kinds of gun bans as well as gun registration schemes and yet in Central and Southern Illinois States Attorneys are refusing to prosecute FOID Card holders for carrying concealed firearms because the Illinois unlawful use of weapons statute has been declared unconstitutional. Some local police and Sheriffs are refusing to arrest people but the Illinois State Police are saying they will arrest people. My advice is that you conduct yourself as you have in the past when we had no concealed carry law until this whole thing is settled.

I’m very proud of everyone who have been showing up at City Council and Village Trustee meetings to protest the passage of unfair and draconian ordinances which are unquestionably aimed at attacking our Second Amendment Rights. It is important to note that the reason we are able to do this is because we a large and active membership. It is also important the every ISRA member recruit an new member or two so we are able to stay strong. Attacks on our Second Amendment Rights can pop up anywhere at any time and the best way to defeat them is to show up with our own “truth squads”. Do not expect the situation to change in Illinois.

Please expect more alerts in the coming days and weeks as the situation may change rapidly at both the state and local level.
Thank you for being a member.
Richard Pearson
