SPRINGFIELD, Ill, JUNE 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA): With the enactment of concealed carry right around the corner, the Illinois State Rifle Association's 11th annual NRA Day Range Open House will be the perfect place for citizens to try out the latest in concealed carry handguns. Representatives of the nation's leading firearm manufacturers will be on hand to answer questions about concealed carry handguns and help point consumers toward the pistol or revolver best suited to their particular situation.

"NRA Day at our range is becoming a summer tradition for Illinoisans who want to see and shoot the latest handguns, rifles and shotguns," said ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson. "We'll have a little bit of everything on hand that attendees have been waiting all year to shoot. AR-15s and large bore bolt guns are always very popular as are some very fine examples of trap shotguns. Our event will be extra special this year in light of the recent passage of concealed carry legislation. Lots of folks will be out looking for the perfect carry gun, and our range open house will be a great place to do some comparison shopping. We'll give them the opportunity to shoot their favorite gun to their heart's content, and then they can visit their local dealer and order one for themselves."

NRA Day at the ISRA's Rifle Range will kick off at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 22nd. The ISRA Range is located near Bonfield, IL on Warner Bridge Road about half way between Routes 113 and 17.

Parking and admission are free, but a nominal donation to cover the cost of ammunition will be collected from those who wish to shoot one of the many types of firearms on display.

No personal firearms or ammunition will be allowed and all shooters must complete a safety briefing. Eye and hearing protection will be provided free of charge.

NOTE TO THE MEDIA: A guided media tour of the ISRA Range facility will kick off at 9:15 sharp. Media wishing to participate should meet with the ISRA guide at the gatehouse. A walking Q&A session will follow.

The ISRA is the state's leading advocate of safe, lawful and responsible firearms ownership. For more than a century, the ISRA has protected the interests of millions of law-abiding Illinois firearm owners.
