EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
Each day the office gets calls regarding the status of concealed carry and what progress is being made toward implementation. The only thing I can tell you is that the Illinois State Police are working on it. I also believe they are making their best efforts. I don't think we will know much until September 7th. One very good sign is that Levi, Ray, & Shoup , of Springfield were awarded contracts to improve the computer systems. This company is a consulting company with a top notch reputation.

In the mean time what should you to to get ready for concealed carry? My best guess is start taking classes. The most accessible of these are NRA classes. I would also make sure that the classes incorporate live fire. The more you know the better equipped you are going to be. This really isn't about just getting a concealed carry permit. This is about protecting your life, your loved ones life, or the lives of innocents should the occasion arrive. I have been there so trust me on this one. When it happens the situation explodes and you are in the middle of it like it or not. When that happens your mind calls on past experience for answers. If it doesn't find any experiences it can draw from-well that is when panic sets in. When panic sets in your odds of making it drop rapidly. And by the way so does those who are depending on you.

So where do you start? You start learning the fundamentals of marksmanship and build from there. You move from simple to complex at what ever speed you are comfortable with, but not too comfortable. It is important that you push yourself to the edge of your comfort zone every once In a while.

Since I do not want to write a book about marksmanship and self defense, at least right now, I will leave this topic with this bit of wisdom. A slow hit trumps any number of fast misses every time.

I am watching continuing pressure from Antigun Campaigns all across the United States and though the world. It is critical that those who love firearms and self defense join together and stay that way. I am going to ask you to do me a favor for me and yourself. In the next 48 hours I want you to recruit one new ISRA member. Just one-how hard is that? It is not hard but it is the key to victory and keeping the victory!
Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) Highlight
Bloomberg’s MAIG has made major inroads in Illinois.
Check to see if your mayor is on the list of members. Our Illinois Mayors need to be informed of the allegations against MAIG, its obvious divergence from its stated agenda and encouraged to withdraw their membership.

Remember to be polite and professional. Present them with the facts that MAIG has nothing to do with 'Illegal Guns' and everything to do with making gun ownership illegal.

Please forward on any correspondence you receive regarding this matter to the ISRA.
