EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE <br />
This past Wednesday, the City of Chicago agreed to remove the first time offender language from SB1342. Additionally, the City of Chicago agreed to revisit the Unlawful Use of Weapons Statute and the Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons Statute in the Spring Session. The purpose of the rewrite is to bring the entire law into line with our new Concealed Carry License Law. To say that these statutes are a problem would be accurate. There is a lot of work to be done on them. We will have to be very watchful of the proposals that the City of Chicago may make.<br />

Right now, I am in Springfield working on SB1342 and preparing for next year. The Spring Session will be adjusted because of the March 18, 2014 primary. I would expect we will have most of January out of session. We will need this time to prepare because I imagine after the Primary Election it will be very busy.<br />

Illinois State Rifle Association To Turn Heat Up On Suburban And Small Town Mayors<br />

Bloomberg’s MAIG has made major inroads in Illinois. Check to see if your mayor is on the list of members. Our Illinois Mayors need to be asked about receiving campaign contributions from Mayor Bloomberg, MAIG’s obvious divergence from its stated agenda, and encouraged to withdraw their membership.<br />
<br />
Remember to be polite and professional. Present them with the facts that MAIG has nothing to do with 'Illegal Guns' and everything to do with making gun ownership illegal.<br />
