That's a wrap! Thanks for a great season. See you all next year!

We should be shooting 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday again next year.

Final schedule to be finalized in February.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE
<br />

<br />
The first Fall Veto Session is underway and we are already aware of anti-gun bills which we will see in the regular Spring Session in 2015. I expect Bloomberg to put heavy pressure on the Illinois General Assembly. Bloomberg has deployed people to every state in order to steal your guns. It is up to you and me to stop him and his minions.
<br />

<br />
The United Nations (UN) has jumped on the bandwagon urging the "rapid phase out" of traditional lead ammunition. I have a better idea! Let's rapidly phase out the UN. We have to insist that everyone in the new Congress defund those creeps.
<br />

<br />
Once again another American has been beheaded and the Obama Administration does nothing, in the hope of peace - I guess. Peace is a mask that hides its ugly face of war. The longer you leave the mask on, the uglier the face of war will be. As always, it is the citizens who will have to pay the price for such inaction. I encourage all of you to prepare or continue to prepare.
<br />

<br />
By now you have received your member recruitment applications. One of the best ways to stop Bloomberg's onslaught against your gun rights is to recruit a new member. Gun control is a disease and every member (and new member) is an antibody to fight that disease.
<br />

<br />
One frequently asked question is "How many women in Illinois have Illinois Concealed Carry Licenses?" At last count - 12,700 plus!
<br />

<br />
Thanks for being a member.

Currently ISRA's referral program attorneys have brought approximately three dozen lawsuits against the ISP (regarding denial of CCL applications), all of which are monitored through our General Counsel's offices. Additionally, in the Ezellcase, our counsel is seeking recovery of over $500,000 in awarded attorney fees, and the City of Chicago's attorneys are appealing that decision. In Wilson v. Cook County, there will be a pre-trial conference in December and that case is on its way to trial. Friedman V. Highland Park is now in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals with briefs being filed by both sides. We are part of an amicus brief recently filed in Kolbe v. O'Malley, a Maryland assault weapon case.

    Not to hi-jack your thread, but having some connections with some of the pawn shops and dealers in guns in the St. louis area one of them had a semi backed up to their back door today and moved their inventory of all guns to another secured location. Also one of the Chicago cops who shall remain anonymous mentioned that they have been told to make sure they have all their riot gear ready and many of them are finding that they OOPS! don't have all the necessary gear available that they're all supposed to have and can't get what they need because for "some strange reason" there's been a run on that type of gear with much being sold out. Ahh for the good old days when the cops would yell "Stop or I'll shoot!" and they would shoot, so you did stop. Simpler times with better results. Guess that makes me a racist.

    Wow! The guy may be power-hungry, but he's pretty smart. It will be harder for Obummer to whip up any support against him (assuming he wants to) based on him being a Commie-style dictator when The Russian army invades the rest of the Ukraine in spring. That paraphrasing of Al Capone was a brilliant dig. His support from the Russian populace will increase by his allowing them to arm themselves in public against the hooligans, and undoubtedly violent crime will decrease if enough Russians get permits. It might also stimulate the firearms industry in Russia, giving their economy a bit of a bump. It also boggles the mind to think of Muscovites possibly openly complaining that they are having trouble finding their favorite pistol caliber ammo in stock at the local GUM store.<br />
    <br />
    Many retirement advisors recommend diversification by investing a portion of one's portfolio in foreign stocks, usually sector funds. I wonder if stock is available for the companies manufacturing Tokarevs, Marakovs, or PSMs (Pistolet Samozaryadny Malogabaritny)? Maybe the debt-riddled Illinois pension fund could gain solvency by purchasing Russian "gun stocks" <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wink:' />. <br />

    <br />
    "U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder urged police to show restraint in handling any protests that flare after the grand jury's decision as tensions simmered in Ferguson, Missouri, over a case that has become a flashpoint for U.S. race relations."<br />
    I'd truly like to see him in the front rank of police officers doing crowd control in Ferguson.<br />
    <br />
    "Hundreds of civil rights lawyers from across America were descending on Ferguson to monitor the possible protests."<br />
    So the ACLU is ready as well.<br />
    <br />
    "Ahh for the good old days when the cops would yell "Stop or I'll shoot!" and they would shoot, so you did stop. Simpler times with better results. Guess that makes me a racist."<br />
    <br />
    It doesn't, if you wish the police would use the same behavior against offenders of all races and religions equally.<br />
    <br />
    I sometimes worry about guarding against racism in myself. My Dad's parents and aunt & uncle grew up in a white community in Evanston, Illinois (1900 block of South Jackson Avenue). They inherited and lived in their parent's home and stayed on even when the community turned black, despite hating black people. I remember visiting them as a kid back in the 60's and they were the only white people for several blocks in any direction. My great aunt nearly had a stroke when she found my sister playing with a neighbor girl in her living room whom she had innocently invited inside. That was the first time a black person had ever been in the house. My dad was influenced by them, and occasionally expressed racist opinions, especially when Martin Luther King or Jesse Jackson was in the news.<br />
    <br />
    My mom's family never said anything racist that I recall, but rural Porter township in Rock County, Wisconsin, was not a hotbed of multi-culturalism, and I don't recall any non-white faces in the Methodist Church in Edgerton on Sundays when I was dragged there back in the 60's by my maternal grandparents while staying with them in the summer.<br />
    <br />
    Regardless of the Ferguson police officer's guilt or innocence, police everywhere need to respond immediately and forcefully to violent protest. The first warning should be a volley of rubber bullets. Peaceful demonstrations, even unlawful ones, can be handled by talk, but nobody should get away with assault, vandalism or arson. They probably won't even detain the violent protestors and make them attend cultural sensitivity training.<br />
    <br />
    It would be nice if police department personnel closely resembled the racial and cultural demographics of the community they serve, but we don't want to lower acceptance standards for recruits, and there are negative racist histories within some police departments that influence minorities from considering law enforcement as a career, and establishing hiring quotas can cause backlash problems within the community majority.<br />
    <br />
    Everyone needs to cowboy up if we are going to reduce racial problems in this country.<br />

    Second link wouldn't open for me. <br />
    <br />
    On the "racist" thing I'm of the opinion that the race card gets played so much these days that when you really do come up against what might be the real thing its perception has been diluted to the point of no one believing anything other than both sides have to get further apart and more rigid or extreme in their contempt for the other side. <br />
    <br />
    And yes I would be an equal opportunity shooter! (Is it the Marine's motto to just kill em all and let god sort them out?) I've watched enough cops episodes to realize that it's a job requiring more restraint, tolerance and patience than I could ever muster without having a body count at the end of every shift. That's why I could never be a cop with the amount of PC bullish@# that is now required. I don't buy the idea or excuse that I'm a product of my environment and gimme, gimme, gimme. At some point you have to grow up and take responsibility for who and what you are. <br />
    <br />
    Every day I think; "Well I can't become anymore Jaded than I am now," and then I see or hear another news broadcast or read a paper and find I'm wrong again. Speaking of Jade, we are living in the era of the Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." Thank god we have the time travel machines that transport us to better for a few hours when we play cowboy. <br />
    <br />
    Can't believe that I took off on this rant, but should really stop now before the other moderator has to censor me.

    Your TownHall link had an amusing comment: "The legitimate struggle for black participation in civil rights, including due process, was at some points manipulated by marxist elements."<br />
    <br />
    I'm sure there was some Soviet and commie sympathizer (aka pinkos, fellow travelers, useful idiots) agitprop during the civil rights unrest in the 60s. Isn't it mind-boggling that we now have a President in Russia offering its citizens concealed carry permits, and a "Great Leader" here in America espousing to millions of illegal aliens "from each according to his ability (cheap labor) and to each according to their needs (amnesty, health care, citizenship)"<br />

    Hijacking my thread? Well, ok as long as you don't hold it for ransom. Can't afford to bail it out.
  • thank you for all the info-- I did get my pack from ISRA and am trying to get at least 4 new members. Also pushing for new SASS members. Kid Mike is having a hard time in college but is hanging in, he is also trying to get some younger shooters. hope to see you all more next year. Sorry I could not make many shoots this past year, I hope I can do better in the spring. I got my IL. CC. Thanks DD. I sure am a happy cowboy.<br />
