EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Winter is establishing its grip on Illinois so now is a great time to do your reloading for this spring. It is also a good time to catch up on the latest products coming from the manufacturers. The Shot Show will be held in a couple of weeks so you will be getting the latest previews of all the new items in various magazines; don't expect to see those items at the local gun shop too soon. Even though you may read about a test of a new product, those products are most likely not in production yet. A few specimens will be on display at the Shot Show and are made so writers can write about them, but mass production has not started yet. Many of the products will not show up until next summer and some may take up to a year.

I am happy to report that the number of FOID cards has topped 1,800,000. That is 18,000 more from what I reported a few months ago. What that means is that gun ownership in Illinois is still rising. I predict the number of FOID cards will go over 2,000,000 sometime next year. It's too bad we don't have 1,800,000 ISRA members.

For those who like to relive the past, the ISRA will host the Winter Wars match on Saturday, January 10th. In this match you may use rifles which were used during winter battles (such as The Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Chosin Reservoir, and The Battle of Stalingrad) to name a few. It's not as tough as being at the original battle but it does give you an appreciation for what those people went through. I am sure those folks didn't have a hot bowl of chili waiting for them after the battle, but you probably will. See the ISRA calendar for details.

We still have a few openings left for the February 7th and March 7thWomen On Target Clinics at Chillicothe Sportsmen's Club in Chillicothe, IL. Call the ISRA office for more details or download the application from our website and fax or mail it in.

If you don't know what to do with yourself in this cold weather, maybe you could recruit a new ISRA member or go hang around the local gun shop and promote the ISRA. It's no doubt warmer there and perhaps you will meet new friends!

Thanks for being a member.
