Bill and I could both have Illinois permits if we coughed up $300, completed mandated training and jumped through all the other hoops. He literally lives within pistol range of the state line.
Yes, we need reciprocity! And we need it now! Not just for Wisconsin residents, but through out the entire United States, just like a drivers license.

Yes! First we should obtain nationwide reciprocity.

Then we start working on:

1. The insurance companies so employers will find it far cheaper to insure for and allow concealed carry in the workplace, than to risk pricy lawsuits for prohibiting it and leaving citizens defenseless against people going postal (as in fired or jilted postal workers taking their prohibited guns to the post office and committing mass murder against defenseless victims). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Going_postal

If the insurance companies refuse to respond to statistics, we need to hammer them in their walllets with lawsuits until they see the actuarial light at the end of the tunnel.

2. Putting armed security officers/staff members in schools. We guard banks and ballparks, but not grade schools... what's wrong with that picture?

3. Educating children. Eddie Eagle style gun safety programs - reporting and not handling "found" guns, exposure to how damaging gunshots can be, and taking the mystique out of guns by letting them handle and shoot them under controlled range conditions.
The Gazette has modified their web site recently. Ted Peck's column on reciprocity is now located at: http://www.gazettextra.com/archives/ted-peck-a-case-for-concealed-carry-reciprocity/article_188a7946-b21c-5877-b304-06405070627d.html
