Looks like "Dirt Pyle" is the winner of the contest. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/good.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':good:' /> So far as I can see, he is the first one to follow the instructions. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Blank out the private parts, of course. No personal identification, just leave enough so we know it is legit and yours. No instructors, no photoshop nonsense. OK?"[/background][/font]
You're scaring me son. Myself, Lizzie and Rough Rider Ron all got ours in February and Dirt Plye in April.
We don't need no stinking pictures!
Not to mention Wrangler Rich...

Well, you didn't follow the rules. So I'm going to award the prize to Dirt Pyle - a whole dozen of empty 9 mm brass.
Well, it appears the ISP changed their CCW web site a bit. I used to get to 30% completed before being rejected as not being a resident of Hawaii. After trying my formerly daily, then weekly, now bi-monthly, and soon to be annual check of the web site, I'm stuck at 9% progress. I can only imagine the additional crap they added to the process in addition to moving the state of residency question forward. It appears Illinois is still limiting residents of 4 states to apply: Hawaii, New Mexico, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Amusingly (for some values thereof) the site would let me continue as a Wisconsin resident if i were applying for Illinois Concealed Carry License Instructor Certification. It doesn't appear that the resident of any state (or American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Minor Outlying Islands, and the Virgin Islands) is blocked from applying to be an Illinois Concealed Carry Instructor. I'll leave it to DD & SK to discuss if the intent is to screw Illinois-resident instructors by allowing out-of-state instructors to teach classes, or to get more money by collecting instructor license fees without allowing any more non-residents to actually obtain permits, or if it's just a programming glitch in the web site.
I just wanted to let you know mine arrived yesterday

Good to hear! I haven't heard of any of our folks having any problems.

Carried in Wisconsin for the first time yesterday. As usual, it was a non-event. [Snidely inserts sarcastic comment here]
I just came back from breakfast at the local diner with my daughter and carried for the first time. I enjoyed exercising my right!

Thanks DD for helping me be able to do that.

Required by law!! Without your license, you might spend some time downtown until it's straightened out. Although, I don't recall a specific legal charge if you are caught carrying without it. Probably just confiscate your pistol and let you jump through the hoops to get it back.
I think you are saying both.

Required by law implies it is a crime with a specific charge

Without a specific legal charge is is a MAJOR HASSLE and a TERRIBLE IDEA but you would not be convicted of anything in the long run.

If you are caught driving without your driver's licence you can get a ticket (and possibly taken to jail) but all you have to do is go to court to prove you have one and the charges will be dismissed. It is also MAJOR HASSLE and a TERRIBLE IDEA but you will not be convicted of a specific crime.

Believe me I don't plan on carrying without the card but I want to know what the law says.
The CCW law says you are required to have it. I'd have to look it up but I'm pretty certain there is no specific charge. I'm not aware of anyone who has faced that issue, so we will have to see.

There is likely some "coverall" charge, like disturbing the peace or something they would try to pin on you.
Thanks, that is helpful. I think I will make a card holder on my holster so I cannot leave home without it.

I'd rather not be reaching in the area of my pistol if a LEO wants to see my license. My move may be mistaken for an intention to draw and could lead to problems.

I have left home without my wallet but it is rare for me to leave without my iPhone. So I got a phone case that has slots for licenses, etc. Might not work for everyone.
Now that is a very valid point.I don't want to get shot. A holder on the holster could be a really bad idea.

By the way the actual card says it must be carried but does not say what the charge will be for not carrying it.

Naw... It would just give him a big head.
Probably wise to give them a call. They are very lax at letting folks know there is a problem holding up their license.
Wisconsin applicants are still blocked.
Re-elect Governor Quinn! (In another 4 years, at least one of the Illinois prisons should have a vacancy...)
